RUMS Hockey (Men’s)

RUMS men’s hockey club offers the complete university sport experience, and is one of if not the biggest club within RUMS. We have three teams all competing in their respective BUCS (British University College Sports) and London leagues, a minimum of three mixed tours with the women’s team over the year, weekly Wednesday socials and numerous other events. We also have the accolade of being the only RUMS sport to compete in the annual London Varsity Series between UCL and KCL, with next season’s event promising to be even bigger.

The club caters for all levels of ability. The 1st XI play competitive fixtures against other University 1st XI teams, and were Champions of the London League, LUSL, in 2013. Players also have the additional incentive of playing for the “United Hospitals”, a prestigious invitational team with fixtures against Oxford University and other big club sides. The 2nd XI is a perfect mix of competitive hockey with a friendly, social atmosphere. It is often a place for potential 1st team players to develop their hockey. And of course, last but most certainly not least, the 3rd XI, self-acclaimed RUMS Team of the Year, is a more social team where “absolutely no experience, sporting background or talent is required”. Basic technique and tactics developed for progression to the 2s.

We very much look forward to seeing you in September – in the meantime find us on Facebook or Twitter for more information, or contact Ollie Totham (oliver.totham.12@ucl.ac.uk).
